Here are the ways you can optimize old content:

  • Adding internal links: with time you’ll have more blogs that relate to your old content so be sure to link to it and from it to more blogs on your website
  • Search engine optimization: check how you’re ranking and see if there are new related keywords or questions you can answer to better fit your user intent and SEO
  • Optimize meta descriptions: update to better fit the current search intent
  • Update stats and research: did you add any stats that are now older than a year ago? Update them!
  • Incorporate keywords: check if your current primary keywords are still relevant or if there are more secondary keywords you can use for the search intent
  • Update expired names: same as with the research and stats, make sure you’re updating any information that’s in your blog
  • Updating photos and adding videos: and don’t forget to use keywords on your alt texts

Welcome to your first writing task of the course!

For this task, you have to complete two tasks:

  1. Pick 2x blogs that you like (they can be old posts you've published or any you like on the internet). Put them into a Google Doc, and go over them with SEO recommendations to re-optimize the old content. Leave suggestions as comments in the Google Doc.
  2. Choose a keyword and write down what its intent is (little tip, see what the top results talk about, and check the People Also Ask boxes).

To submit your work, please add it to this tracker.

Here's a Loom to understand how to use the tracker.
