11 - Calls to actions (CTAs)
CTA’s come in all shapes and sizes, but most will have three parts to them.
Those are:
- Heading: what catches the attention
- Sub-heading: explains a bit more where the CTA will direct you to
- Anchor text: the specific part of the text that’s linked
Let’s look at some examples to see what each of those are...


What is the anchor text?
Anchor text is the text that appears in a link (in CTAs and in copy). For example, “Check out our guide to the best corporate venues in Paris.” It's essential to make your anchor text clear, keyword-heavy, and direct.
Different writers and businesses will have different formats for presenting a CTA button in a draft. At dslx, we write our CTAs using blocks that stand out, taking this format:
