Wrapping up on AI
12 - Let's talk about AI
Remember, AI—especially ChatGPT—is a language processing tool. It can only regurgitate words in the way it sees fit. It has learned from the data it has access to—which can oftentimes be factually incorrect or poorly written.
We’re emerging from a heavily saturated SEO chapter in online content: meaning so many articles were written for bots first. And, this is how AI has learned to write.
At the same time, what makes us human is what will make our content (be it blogs, emails, Slack messages, or social media posts) unique. Our humanness, our imperfections, experiences, and unique perspectives enable us to produce content that goes beyond any machine.
So, while you now have a bit of guidance with the do’s and don’ts we use at dslx, consider these two questions when reviewing your own work.
- Can AI write this better?
- May your reader think this piece could have been written by AI?
If your answer is yes to either of these questions then get back to the drawing board and ensure you’re lifting your piece with all of the unique qualities that can only be achieved by a human.
