How to write a meta description
9 - Meta Data
Most of the time, we’re in charge of writing the meta descriptions for our own articles.
Here’s a step-by-step of how to come up with your own:
- Work out the user search intent. What do they want to find out, and what answers can you give?
- Use an active voice and make it actionable.
- Remember your title and description should go hand in hand.
- Ensure it matches the content of the page.
- Include a keyword or two.
- Keep it at optimal length, 150 characters. This resource is helpful.
It’s not overly complicated, so don’t spend too much time on your meta description. Follow these simple rules and you’ll be good to go!
