Case Study: Holafly

The Challenge

Holafly was expanding fast, especially across English-speaking markets, and their blog needed to reflect that growth. But while demand was rising, internal capacity wasn’t. Their team was stretched thin, and they didn’t have the editorial infrastructure in place to refresh outdated articles, publish new ones at scale, or handle the strategic lift that comes with optimizing for SEO and user experience.

They needed a partner who could:

  • Act as an extension of their team without adding management overhead
  • Refresh and expand their blog in bulk, without compromising quality
  • Help build internal systems that would eventually outlive the partnership

And they needed it fast.

The Solution

Holafly partnered with dslx with one clear goal: scale to 30 high-quality pieces per month, move fast without falling apart, and bring consistency to a blog that had been growing unevenly across multiple regions and markets.

dslx ran their editorial ops

dslx took full ownership of Holafly’s English-language blog output. We delivered 180 pieces of content—139 rewrites of existing articles and 41 new, original posts.

Every week followed a strict cadence: uploads on Thursday, feedback and edits implemented by Friday, and everything ready to go live the following Monday. This rhythm became the backbone of Holafly’s blog revival.

Topical focus built authority (and saved time)

From technical tutorials to trip planning, we created content that was categorized, easy to navigate, and aligned with both user intent and SEO structure. Here’s a quick look at some of the core content categories we worked across:

  • Digital Nomads
  • eSIM Data Plans
  • Expats
  • Finance
  • Holafly Research
  • How to
  • Insurance
  • International Roaming
  • Mobile Internet
  • News
  • Reviews
  • SIM Card Guides
  • Students
  • Taxes
  • Travel Guides
  • Travel Tips
  • Trip Planning
  • Visas

We aligned writers with topics based on their expertise, building topical authority at both the brand and individual level. For example, Sharan tackled technical and product-focused content, while Sam and Ray wrote about countries they had personally traveled to, drawing on lived experiences to create trustworthy, high-ranking guides

Our global team became their local storytellers

Holafly wanted their content to feel local, specific, and trustworthy. So we went there, literally.

Sharan, one of our writers based in Mumbai, walked through physical eSIM shops across the city, spoke with store reps, collected real images, and used those insights to create a guide that no AI—or foreign freelancer—could replicate. That article became one of Holafly’s most authentic, high-trust pieces in-market.

See it in action. Sharan’s guide to buying an India SIM card is based on field visits, local stores, and real photos. Read it here.

Meanwhile, Sam wrote from their own experience living in Japan. They included personal photos, culturally specific insights, and micro-location tips that placed them as the true expert in the eyes of search engines and readers alike.

And it wasn’t just local expertise—we brought real travel experience to broader guides too. Ray, a seasoned solo traveler himself, wrote a countdown-style piece on solo travel in Europe that blended practical advice with personal perspective. Structured, specific, and rooted in lived experience, it’s proof that good content just needs to be real.

These were stories written by people who had walked the streets, scanned the QR codes, and stood in line at real eSIM counters. That’s what makes a difference in a zero-click, AI-summarized world.

We handled the formatting, visuals, and uploads

Every blog came with a publish-ready Google Doc, a custom header image, and in-line visuals where needed. We didn’t stop at stock photos—those were our last resort. We partnered with professional travel photographers to build a destination-specific photo library, and we built a reusable database of screenshots, diagrams, and device-specific walkthroughs pulled directly from our own phones, both Android and iOS. That meant every ‘step-by-step’ guide was tested, captured, and continually updated to reflect the latest OS releases

We prepped metadata, structured posts for SEO, and uploaded everything directly to their CMS. All Holafly had to do was hit “publish.”

Behind the scenes, we helped them rebuild how content worked

While production rolled on the surface, we were quietly helping Holafly rebuild the mechanics of how content was created.

We started with tone of voice. Their brand had grown fast across markets, and the voice had drifted with it. We worked with their team to sharpen, simplify, and standardize the tone—giving every future writer a clear way in.

Then we tackled structure: updating their internal linking strategy to strengthen topical connections, rebuilding CTA funnels across the blog, and cleaning up how authority flowed from article to article.

One of the most impactful pieces was a reusable CTA library. We helped Holafly create a bank of conversion-ready, on-brand calls to action for different funnel stages.

And because we knew this wasn’t a permanent setup, we trained as we shipped. Their junior writers came through the dslx Academy, getting real-time learning alongside live production. By the end, Holafly had a team that could keep producing at that level.

We were the blueprint for what came next.

The Results

Over six months, we produced 180 content pieces that gave Holafly a stronger, more scalable foundation for growth. Here’s what that work enabled:

  • 25% of the blog fully optimized: Rewritten articles with updated structure, internal links, metadata, and formatting
  • Deeper topical coverage: New content filled gaps across travel tips, destination guides, and product FAQs
  • Improved SEO structure: Smarter internal linking and clearer content hierarchies across categories
  • Evergreen accuracy: Step-by-step guides updated with screenshots from real devices (Android + iOS), aligned to latest OS versions
  • Visual content library: Reusable images and walkthrough assets created from scratch to reduce design lift long-term
  • Centralized tone of voice: TOV documentation refined and applied across every article for brand consistency
  • Reusable CTA set: Clear, conversion-ready CTAs created and documented to support ongoing in-house use
  • Trained internal team: Junior writers upskilled through dslx academy, ready to manage production post-engagement
  • Established editorial cadence: A weekly upload/edit/publish workflow adopted and maintained internally

It was a full editorial system designed by dslx to scale, built to last, and handed over ready to run.
